Dr Mike Aitken

Dr Aitken has been a full-time obstetrician and gynaecologist since 2000. He has a special interest and training in the management of fertility and associated surgery.

Dr Aitken graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1984 and worked in Sports Medicine. He then worked in country General Practice before specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology primarily at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Dr Aitken is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA). He is also a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). He has previously been President of The National Association of Specialists Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NASOG). Dr Aitken is also currently Director and Cofounder of Fertility Specialists of Western Australia, based at Bethesda Hospital Claremont.

Dr Aitken has a strong interest in the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHAD). He has a special interest in how the future wellbeing of a child can be affected by a couple's health at the time of conception and during pregnancy, as well as whether IVF and other fertility treatments have any influence on this.

He utilises his expertise and extensive knowledge to support his patients throughout their fertility journey. His individual and tailor made treatment plans give his patients the best chance of falling pregnant. 

Outside of work he enjoys time with his wife and family of four children, and is a keen bike rider, surfer, yoga exponent and lover of nature.
